Muslims should especially give gifts when they are appreciative of what someone has done for them. Knowing this fact, one University of Michigan graduate, took this idea a step further. In response to television host and comedian, Jon Stewart's, fairly consistent defense of Muslims and his commentary on the "Ground Zero Islamic center", Chris A.R. Blauvelt wanted to thank him in a big way.

Blauvelt started a Facebook event entitled, Send Jon Stewart an Eid Gift and shared his reasoning for the initiative: "He who does not thank people, does not thank God" ~Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him. In thanks to and recognition of Jon Stewart's sane, honest and hilarious commentary on the ground zero mosque controversy and defense of Muslims against the growing tide of Islamophobia, we encourage everyone of all faiths and backgrounds to send him a gift on the Muslim holiday of Eid, this year on September 10, 2010. **NOTE: It's also the high Jewish Holidays, so please wish him a warm Shanah Tovah too!"
