French Prime Minister François Fillon inaugurated a mosque in a Paris today.

During his speech, he asked the crowd to reject public use of the full face veil.

“The Islam of France, the Islam you practice daily, has nothing to do with this caricature that dims the lights of your faith,” Fillon said, according to Reuters.

The French parliament will be debating the proposed ban on burqas and niqabs next week.
