Early primate skull found in Saudi Arabia

By Saladin on from www.futurity.org

While searching for dinosaur fossils in Saudi Arabia, a paleontologist from the University of Michigan found the skull of an ancient primate. The discovery offers new insights into what the last common ancestor of apes and monkeys may have looked like and when the two lineages went their separate ways.

The fossil preserves most of the face, the front upper portion of the skull, the temporal bone, and the palate, with some of the left and right upper teeth.
