Lying to Your Husband to Set Him Right?

Lying to Your Husband to Set Him Right?

By SuhaibWebb on from www.suhaibwebb.com

Question: My husband used to drink alcohol, and I am someone who prays alhamdulillah (praise be to Allah). I was very concerned and unsure of what to do, so I lied to him, and I hope that Allah forgives me. I told him: ‘I dreamt of a Shaykh, and he told me that my husband has to stop drinking, or else such and such (bad) will happen.’ When I told him in the morning, he believed me. He made ablution alhamdulillah, and started praying. I still feel uneasy because I lied to my husband, but alhamdulillah he prays now, and has not missed a single prayer ever since. I hope you can benefit me, and pray that Allah forgives me for this lie.

Muslim liquor store owners grapple with guilt, get grant

There is probably one in every 'inner-city' defined area: a corner store that sells liquor and lotto tickets, maybe even a smut magazine or two. And often times, such stores are owned by Muslim men. If that is not an oxymoron, then what is?

Prescribed by his Islamic faith to pray five times a day, Mazen Materieh often prostrates himself on one of the prayer rugs in the basement of his corner store. When he is done, he returns to his perch behind the counter, where he sells liquor, lottery tickets and pork skins — all forbidden by the Quran and the Prophet Muhammad.
Is Kombucha Tea Halal or Haram?

Is Kombucha Tea Halal or Haram?

By Saladin on from www.islamqa.com

Does the alcohol in kombucha tea make it haraam?
There is a kind of Japanese tea called kombucha that contains approximately 0.0065 % alcohol because of the presence of probiotic enzymes that occur as the result of the fermentation process. It can be bought from the store without showing ID, because it hardly contains any alcohol worth mentioning. But I would like to know whether it is permissible to drink it in Islam or not?.

======================
Answer:
Praise be to Allaah.
We have read a great deal about the benefits of the tea mentioned in the question; the issue of its benefits should be referred to specialists.

With regard to the amount of alcohol in this tea, it is a very low amount that does not lead to drunkenness, hence drinking it is not haraam because of that.

See the answer to question no. 60212 in which there is an answer concerning fermented tea.

Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyah (may Allah have mercy on him) said:

Everything that is called water is pure and a means of purification, whether some impurity has fallen into it or not, if it is known that it has dissolved into it and disappeared. As for that in which traces of impurity are apparent, it is haraam to use it, because it comes under the heading of using something haraam. End quote.

Majmoo‘ al-Fataawa, 19/236, 237

He also said:

Allah has forbidden impure things (khabaa’ith), namely blood, dead meat, pork and so on. If any of these things fall into water etc and disappear
Why does Islam forbid alcohol?

Why does Islam forbid alcohol?

By l0gikal on from www.helium.com

The word "Muslim" means "one who submits." Islam is a religion of submission to the will of Allah. The straightforward truth is that someone who is not in control of their own body because they are drunk can not submit to Allah's will, as they have not the control to make that choice. So Islam forbids alcohol primarily for that reason to prevent Shaytan (the Devil) taking control of a person's body when they are too intoxicated to control their body themselves. If that happened the person would not then subject to Allah's will, but rather they would then be a slave to sin. In the Qur'an it says: "Shaytan's plan is to excite enmity and hatred between you, with intoxicants and gambling, and hinder you from the remembrance of Allah, and from prayer: will ye not then abstain?
