True "freedom" according to Islam

Islam teaches that true happiness and peace of mind, is only obtained through living a life conscious of God, and through being satisfied with what God has given us. Additionally, true “freedom” is freedom from being controlled by our base desires and being ruled by man-made ideologies. This stands in stark contrast to the view of many people today, who consider “freedom” to be the ability to satisfy all of their desires without any inhibitions. 
Freedom Flotilla Updates

On May 31, Israel attacked – in international waters – the Freedom Flotilla, a six ship fleet carrying aid to the besieged Gaza Strip. The Flotilla was carrying 10,000 tons of aid and about 700 peaceful activists from all over the world. The Israeli Defense Force (IDF) raided the biggest ship, the Mavi Marmara, killing at least 9 people and injuring scores of other civilians, and seized the rest of the ships, bringing them in to an Israeli port. They then proceeded to arrest and/or deport the activists. This wasn’t the end of the assault—the Rachel Corrie, an Irish ship named after the activist who was crushed to death by an Israeli army bulldozer as she protested over house demolitions in Gaza in 2003, also attempted to sail to Gaza with aid days later, and was also intercepted by Israel. On June 7, the Israeli Navy killed four Palestinians off the Gaza coast.

For those who were following the flotilla of ships carrying aid for besieged Palestinians in Gaza, the events unfolding last night were horrifying and unimaginable. A group of peace activists carrying aid in the form of reconstruction material and necessities for rebuilding Gaza, were intercepted and fired upon by Israeli naval forces in a blatant and disproportionate use for force.
We at Muslim Matters strongly condemn and question the basis on which Israeli forces opened fire on peace activists, particularly as the flotilla was still situated in international waters. The brutal killing of sixteen people (or nineteen, as some reports suggest; officially, ten) of different nationalities, as well as injuring dozens more, cannot and should not be trivialized.
We at Muslim Matters strongly condemn and question the basis on which Israeli forces opened fire on peace activists, particularly as the flotilla was still situated in international waters. How convenient that there are Muslims in America. How much harder it would be for the government to increase its power, while abridging more general liberties, if they didn't exist. A radical Islamic preacher, who also happens to be an American citizen, is now hiding out somewhere in Yemen inciting violence against this country. What's the solution? Simple: add him to the CIA's "kill list," send in the drones (though we are not at war with Yemen), and execute him. Better yet, call that act a "targeted killing" and you don't have to worry about the legal niceties associated with the word "assassination."
