Despite what we see on the news, not all political couples are doom and gloom. Take mayoral candidate and long-time Paterson resident, Andre Sayegh, and his Muslim-American fiance, Farhanna Balgahoom.

Sayegh and Balgahoom met in March 2005 at an event held by the Arab-American Anti-Discrimination Committee. “We were seated at the same table. There was actually someone in between us and let’s just say I was very glad when that person decided to leave so that I can get a little closer and maybe get to know her,” explained Sayegh.
